Markdown - A Simple, Open File Format

At Async Academy, we have decided to keep things simple and embrace an up-and-coming open text format called Markdown. It is the industry standard for developers, scientists, and technical writers because it is "future-proof": Your work is saved as clean, plain text that will be readable on any device 50 years from now, and doesn't require you to buy anything.

💡

To get a Markdown file, all you need to do is write in Google Docs, then choose File > Download > Markdown (.md)

Creating Presentations & Video

Canva for Education - Pro Creative Tools

For video assignments and presentations, you have full access to the Canva Pro suite. This includes premium templates and high-end video exporting, all provided for free through your school account.

⚠️ Accessing Your Account

  1. Go to the Canva Video Editor.
  2. Select "Log in with Google." Make sure you select your @asyncacademy.ca account!
💡

Keep Your Work Separate: If you are logged into a personal Gmail, Google or Canva might try to sign you in with that account by mistake. We highly recommend creating a separate Chrome Profile for your @asyncacademy.ca account. This keeps your school work, bookmarks, and logins completely separate from your personal files.
