Submitting Written Assignments

Write Like a Pro: The Power of Markdown At Async Academy, we move beyond proprietary formats like .docx and embrace Markdown. It is the industry standard for developers, scientists, and technical writers because it is "future-proof"—your work is saved as clean, plain text that will be readable on any device 50 years from now.

  • Distraction-Free Writing: Forget fiddling with fonts or margins. Focus on your ideas and use simple symbols for formatting.
  • The Power-User Workflow: While you can easily write and export your work using Google Docs (it’s a great, familiar way to start!), you can also use local editors like TextEdit or Notepad, or more sophisticated word processors like Obsidian or Typora.
  • Privacy & Control: Using a local editor on your computer means your notes and drafts stay private and accessible even when you're offline. You own your data.

Creating Presentations & Video

Pro Creative Tools via Canva for Education For video assignments and presentations, you have full access to the Canva Pro suite. This includes premium templates, AI-assisted design, and high-end video exporting—all provided for free through your school account.

⚠️ Accessing Your Free Account

To unlock Pro features without being asked to pay, you must use your school credentials:

  1. Go to the Canva Video Editor.
  2. Select "Log in with Google."
  3. Important: Ensure you select your @asyncacademy.ca account.

[!TIP] Keep Your Work Separate: If you are logged into a personal Gmail in Chrome, Canva might try to sign you in with that account by mistake. We highly recommend creating a separate Chrome Profile for your @asyncacademy.ca account. This keeps your school work, bookmarks, and logins completely separate from your personal files.
