Skill Demonstration

There are three things you need to do in your skill demonstration:

  1. Discuss the three phases of movement in the skill:
    • Preparation (wind-up): Body gets ready; positioning and balance are set to generate force.
    • Execution (action): Main movement where force is produced and the skill is performed.
    • Follow-through (recovery): Motion continues after contact/release to slow the body safely and maintain accuracy and balance.
  2. Discuss how the skill is used in relationship to the activity as a whole:
    • If your activity is a game/sport, you could discuss how it is used to give one side an advantage
    • If it is a non-rule-based activity (e.g. jogging), you could discuss why you focused on developing that skill to improve your ability overall
  3. Discuss safe execution of your skill and any precautions people should take

What Formats are Acceptable?

This video should be submitted as a video that clearly shows you performing the skill you've been developing. The easiest way is to take a video with your phone, upload it to Google Drive using the app, and submit it to Classroom from Drive.

Learning Goals

We are learning to:

  • 🎯

Demonstrate an understanding of movement skills by applying the phases of movement to refine performance

  • 🎯

Apply movement strategies and skill choices appropriately within a physical activity context

  • 🎯

Demonstrate responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others during physical activity

  • 🎯

Use communication and reflection to explain skill use, decision-making, and improvement

Success Criteria

I can:

  • ✅

Clearly explain and demonstrate the preparation, execution, and follow-through phases of my selected skill

    Expectations Covered: B1.3
  • ✅

Apply my skill effectively during activities and explain how it improves my overall performance or participation

    Expectations Covered: B2.1
  • ✅

Identify and demonstrate how to perform skills safely, including taking the right precautions for myself and others

    Expectations Covered: A3.1
