Exam Task

Final Exam Task: The Grade 11 Playbook

Your Professional Legacy

As you move toward your future career, your ability to communicate through digital platforms is just as vital as your technical knowledge. In today’s professional world, employers look for candidates who can present themselves with confidence, clarity, and authenticity online.

For your final task, you will create a "Guide to Grade 11 English" video (or series of videos). Your goal is to share the "insider secrets" of your success in this course, providing actionable advice to future students while showcasing your growth as a creator. Think of this as a contribution to your professional public profile—something that proves you can take complex ideas and make them engaging for an audience.

Key Areas of Reflection

To give your audience the best advice, your content should cover three main pillars:

1. Navigating Difficult Texts (Reading) Help new students approach challenging material. Share the specific reading strategies that worked for you when the language got tough. Discuss how you handled texts from different time periods or cultures that might have different standards or use controversial language compared to what we expect today.

2. Finding Your Voice (Speaking & Listening) You have been recording yourself all semester! Reflect on how your "on-camera" voice has evolved from your "everyday" voice. What speaking strategies do you use now to sound more professional? Additionally, share your best tips for effective listening—how do you stay focused and interpret complex ideas when watching or listening to course content?

3. Mastering the Edit (Media Production) What are your current strengths and weaknesses in video production? Since starting this course, have you noticed things about the content you consume online that you never saw before? Give the new students some "pro tips" on how to get up to speed with Canva and other production tools to make their work shine.

Production & Submission

You have the creative freedom to decide how to package this information. You can produce one long-form video or three shorter, platform-specific clips. Total duration should be between 5 and 10 minutes.

  • Use Your Tools: Leverage Canva’s transitions, overlays, and clear headings to make your video accessible and easy to follow.
  • Be Authentic: Your peers value honesty. It is okay to talk about what you found difficult—it makes your success even more impressive!
  • Submission: Upload your video file(s) to the final exam folder in our digital classroom.
